the role of china during the war
In 1949 China became a nation that believed in Communism. This was one year before the Korean War broke out. As well all know, the main reason for fighting was North Korea wanted to control all of Korea using communism. Meanwhile, South Korea wanted a more democratic government.
During the war, both sides gained assistance from other nations who supported their beliefs of ruling. South Korea was supported by the United Nations and other Western powers.
North Korea, however, was supported by China and Russia. Both of these nations believed in the idea of communism. Once U.N reached the boarder of China, Chinese soldiers were ready at a moments notice to fight and defend their country as well as North Korea. Even after American forces were pushed back, the Chinese kept moving Southward making them go closer and closer to South Korea- the land they were trying to protect.
The capital of South Korea-Seoul- was captured by the enemy once again. However, the U.S was able to push them back North and regain lost ground as well as control of the capital. China then sent an outstanding number of troops to the 38th Parallel where the war dragged on for another two years before finally reaching some form of a compromise.
